How to Find a Lost or Stolen Samsung Android phone

Track your Samsung phone via the Internet using your Google account.

Did you lose your Samsung Android phone or was it stolen? Then you must act immediately. As long as it is turned on, connected to the Internet and has the GPS activated, you will have the possibility of recovering it.

In case you don’t know, all phones with an Android operating system, such as those manufactured by Samsung, Motorola, Huawei, LG and Xiaomi, can be located via the Internet through Google Location Services.

Whats Google Location Services?

This service is free and all that is needed to use it is to log in with the Google account associated with the device to be tracked. After that, it will show the position of the device on a map and offer various options to protect it.

Note: the photos and videos stored on your smartphone can be recovered with Google Photos. Check here.

How to track your Samsung phone from your PC

Go to the Find My Device page using any web browser.

Log in with the Google account associated with your mobile, the one you use to download apps from Google Play.

A map will appear with the exact location of your phone.

Note: for your mobile to appear on the map, it must be turned on, connected to the Internet (Wi-Fi, mobile networks) and have the location (GPS) activated.

Make your phone ring to locate it

To the left of the map, you will find various options to control your cell phone. The first, PLAY SOUND, allows you to make your phone ring.

Clicking on that option will cause the phone to ring for 5 minutes, unless you click STOP RINGING. It will be very useful if you left the phone somewhere nearby, but you don’t know where.

Lock your phone screen with a password

If your mobile does not have the location enabled, it will not appear on the map, but you will have the possibility to protect your information by blocking its screen with a password. For this:

Click on SECURE DEVICE (the second option on the left of the map)

In the window that opens, enter a password, confirm it and click NEXT.

Another window will open in which you can leave a message with your contact information so that whoever finds your device can contact you.

Then click on SECURE DEVICE.

Note: To remove the unlock password, go to Settings > Lock screen and security > Screen lock type > Swipe.

Delete the content of your mobile

If your phone stores sensitive information and you don’t think you have the possibility of recovering it, you can choose to erase all its content. To do this, click on ERASE DEVICE and follow the instructions on the screen.

Note: if you have more than one Google account on your device, you must use the main account to be able to follow this procedure. To find out what it is, go to Settings > Accounts and cloud > Google.
