Hello forum members,

I hope you're all doing well. I have a query about connecting my Mi Box S to my HP laptop wirelessly. I've been trying to find a way to establish this connection, but I'm a bit unsure about the steps. If anyone has experience with this or can provide some guidance on how to connect a Mi Box S to an HP laptop wirelessly, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thank you in advance for your assistance!

Hi

Miracast is a wireless display technology supported by many devices, including the Xiaomi Mi Box S and some HP laptops.

You can use Miracast to mirror the screen of one device (such as a smartphone, tablet, or computer) onto another display device (such as a TV or projector). This is helpful for presentations, sharing photos or videos, and even playing mobile games on a larger screen.

Trick: How to check if your PC supports Miracast

Here are the steps to connect your Mi Box S to your HP laptop wirelessly using Miracast:

Turn on your TV and the Mi Box S. Next, open the Google Chrome browser on your PC.

Clic the three vertical dots in the upper right corner and select Cast. A small window will open.

Under Sources, select the Cast Desktop option. Finally, select your Mi Box S from the list of available devices.

If your HP laptop does not support Miracast, you may consider using other methods like using an HDMI cable to connect your laptop to the TV.

Yes. The steps to mirror a PC screen on any Android TV box are always through the Google browser.

Hi everyone!

I've followed the steps mentioned in the guide to connect my Mi Box S to my HP laptop wirelessly, but I've encountered some issues. When I try to connect both devices, my laptop doesn't detect the Mi Box S, even though they are both connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

I've tried restarting both devices and ensuring that the Wi-Fi connection is stable, but I still can't get them to recognize each other. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Any suggestions on how to fix it?

I’d also like to know if anyone has found an efficient way to stream content from the Mi Box S to a laptop, or if there are any other apps or alternative methods you would recommend.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi there!

I’ve had a similar issue before. One thing you might want to check is whether both devices are on the same Wi-Fi frequency band. Sometimes, the Mi Box S might be connected to a 5GHz network, while your laptop is on a 2.4GHz band, or vice versa. Ensuring they are both on the same band could help with detection issues.

Another thing to try is using the "Cast" option directly from Chrome. If you open Chrome on your laptop, click on the three dots in the upper-right corner, and select "Cast," you should see the Mi Box S listed there if both devices are connected correctly. If it’s not showing up, it might indicate an issue with the network or the devices themselves.

For streaming content, I’ve found that using apps like VLC on the Mi Box and a shared folder on your laptop can work pretty well for playing videos over the network. Alternatively, using a service like Plex could give you more flexibility and a better streaming experience.

I hope this helps! Let us know if any of these suggestions work for you.
