What is Face ID?
Face ID is the biometric authentication system that replaced fingerprints on both iPhone and iPad that no longer have the Home button.
It is very easily configured with the user’s face and is used to unlock the phone and the information it contains as well as to log in to web pages, install apps, authorize purchases and bank transactions, among many other things. All with a simple look at the camera lens.
Normally it is for the exclusive use of the owner of the phone, but there may be special situations that require the registration of an additional face. For example, that of a brother, close relative or very trusted friend. Or also to define an alternative appearance of your own, such as when wearing glasses or wearing a sanitary protection mask.
These ways of using the Face ID function are left to the user’s free choice and it is very easy to configure using the following procedure.
How to make Face ID recognize a second face?
Go to Settings > Face ID & Passcode. Then enter your iPhone unlock code.
Now, click on Set Up an Alternate Appearance. Follow the instructions that appear on the screen.
How to use Face ID with mouth covers?
Go to Settings > Face ID & Passcode. Enter your iPhone unlock code, then turn on Face ID with a Mask. If you want Face ID technology to recognize you with glasses, click on the Add Glasses option. To finish, follow the instructions.
iPhone models that support these features are those running iOS 12 or later.
