How to use Google Maps offline without Internet

If you plan to travel abroad and still have Google Maps road navigation instructions in its mobile version, a really interesting option is to download the maps of the places you are going to. In the first place, because you will no longer have the network coverage of your telephone operator, needing to activate data roaming and therefore assume an additional cost. And on the other hand, because using an application in offline mode also saves battery life.

Fortunately, the Google Maps app for mobile phones has an offline mode that is very easy to put into practice. In addition, a map downloaded from Google Maps will behave the same as a map working online, as long as the origin and destination of the route are included in the offline map.

How to download maps for Google Maps?

On Android or iPhone, open the Google Maps application and tap on the icon that represents your profile.

Next, click on the Offline Maps option > Select your own map.

Manually adjust the region whose map you want to download to your terminal using the zoom to cover more territory. Take note of the space it will occupy in the internal memory and if you agree, click Download.

The offline map will be added to the list of downloaded maps. From this section, you can change its name and remove it from the list when you no longer need it.

Please note that in this offline mode of Google Maps, directions to places using public transportation, biking, or walking will not be available. Neither is traffic information or alternate routes.
