How to mirror your Mac to a Samsung QLED TV

We show you how to cast your Mac screen to a Samsung QLED.

Mac users, like Windows-based computers, often have a wealth of multimedia information on their computers that would be best appreciated on a large screen such as those offered by modern Samsung Smart TVs.

These gadgets in turn offer a number of ways to make it easier to cast a Mac to your TV, for example by making an HDMI cable connection or using an external component like the Apple TV wireless receiver.

However, thanks to an alliance between Samsung and Apple, the integration of the AirPlay 2 protocol has been promoted to the new QLED Smart TVs manufactured in 2019 and a few models from 2018, thus facilitating the wireless connection between the Mac computer and the TV.

This feature of Samsung QLED TVs is compatible with any Apple device, including iPhone. Here’s how to cast your Mac’s screen to a Samsung QLED TV:

First, connect your Samsung TV and Mac computer to the same Wi-Fi network.

Next, make sure that the Airplay function is activated on the TV. For this, go to Settings > General. Select Apple AirPlay Settings and enable the AirPlay option (if you can’t find this option, update your Samsung TV software).

Under Request code, enable or disable a passcode for AirPlay at your convenience. Then go to your Mac and click on the AirPlay icon located in the menu bar (top of the screen).

Select your Samsung TV that supports AirPlay 2. If you can’t find this option in the menu bar, go to the Apple menu > System Preferences > Display, and then check the Show mirroring options in the menu bar when available.
