We solve the problem with the sound of Windows 10 not coming out through HDMI.
Many times when connecting the PC to the television using the HDMI connection, the sounds of Windows 10 are not transferred. Instead they remain playing in the computer speakers and sometimes they do not even come out through them.
This problem causes natural annoyance, as it prevents you from viewing the video files with their amplified sound on the television or entertainment center connected to it. Here are some tips to help you solve the problem of no sound over HDMI and avoid it in the future.
Why can’t I get sound from PC to the TV?
One of the main reasons for a lack of sound on a TV connected to a desktop or laptop via HDMI cable is having outdated HD video and audio drivers, so the solution is to remove and reinstall the corresponding drivers. Follow these steps:
Update the drivers
Go to the Windows Device Manager. To do this, press the Windows + X keys at the same time and select Device Manager.
Expand the Display adapters section, right-click on the graphics device and select Uninstall device.
Then do the same with the sound adapter. On the same Device Manager screen, drop down Sound, video and game controller drivers.
Then right click on the sound card or high definition audio device and select Uninstall device.
Finally, restart your system. After this process Windows 10 will reinstall the deleted device drivers.
Change the PC’s default audio output
Another reason why sound is lost on an HDMI connection is that it has not automatically switched from the default audio output to the display audio output. To solve this problem follow these steps.
With your PC connected via HDMI to the TV, right click on the volume icon located on the taskbar and select Open sound settings.
Then click on Sound Control Panel (right part of the window).
In the Playback tab select the high definition audio or HDMI device and check that it is set as the default device.
If not, right-click on it and select Set as default device.
Finally, if the sound from the PC still doesn’t come out of the TV, use another HDMI cable or try putting it in another HDMI input on your big screen.
