Thanks to the Bose skill for Alexa, you can use Alexa on your Amazon Echo to control a SoundTouch system with your voice. All you need to do is search for and enable the Bose Skill in the Amazon Alexa app (Android, iPhone).
Once set up, the skill is ready for control all SoundTouch systems at home by voice commands, namely, to play music, to launch a radio station, to ask for the songs’ names, etc.
How to enable Bose Skill for Alexa
On your smartphone, open the Amazon Alexa app. Tap the menu button in the top-left corner of the screen, then select Skills & Games.
Tap the search icon and enter Bose into the search bar. Select Bose from the Results. The Skill is compatible with all SoundTouch systems.
You need to link your SoundTouch account with Alexa to use the selected Skill. For this, sign in and follow the instructions.
When finishing, a message will appear indicating that your Bose account has been successfully linking. Close this window by tapping OK.
Tap DISCOVER DEVICES button to have Alexa searching for all compatible devices in your Wi-Fi network. Tap All devices button to have Alexa see the available devices.
Note: The SoundTouch system just added, can be easily identified by Alexa if you name your home environments – for example: “Living Room,” “Salon,” etc. Then, grouping the smart devices in those environments. For this, open the Bose SoundTouch app, tap the upper left corner button and select Settings > Speaker settings, and change the relevant information.
That is it! You have your Bose Skill ready to be used with all your SoundTouch systems at home.
Voice commands for Alexa and Bose SoundTouch
Now you can ask Alexa to play music and radio stations on a SoundTouch 20 and SoundTouch SA-5 by voice, for example by saying:
“Alexa, ask Bose to turn in the SoundTouch 20.”
“Alexa, put the Fox News station on SoundTouch 20.”
“Alexa, turn up the volume on SoundTouch 20.”
“Alexa, turn off SoundTouch 20.”
“Alexa, ask Bose to play preset 3 in the SoundTouch SA-5.”
“Alexa, what is playing on SoundTouch SA-5.”
“Alexa, ask Bose to play jazz in the SoundTouch SA-5.”
“Alexa, turn down the volume on SoundTouch SA-5.”
