How to update the Vizio Dolby Atmos Sound Bar

The Vizio SB36512-F6 Sound Bar is an efficient home theater system that combines a central unit, a pair of satellite speakers and a subwoofer that give it enough power to fill the room with immersive sound, thanks to its support for Dolby Atmos.

It also has multiple connectivity options: Bluetooth, USB, coaxial (RCA), digital optical, HDMI and HDMI ARC.

In addition, it can be controlled from the smartphone screen through the Vizio SmartCast application, which in turn allows you to control the playback on the television to which it is connected of content broadcast through compatible streaming services such as Netflix, Prime Video , Voodoo and Hulu.

For all of this to work smoothly it is necessary to keep the software that governs the soundbar updated to its latest version, something that happens routinely when the soundbar is paired with the Vizio SmartCast app (iOS and Android) and both are connected to Internet.

However, there may be situations in which this application is not available or some fortuitous event occurs that makes automatic updates unfeasible, leaving only the manual update option to have the computer fully working.

How to manually update the firmware on the Vizio SB36512-F6 Sound Bar

To start you must have a USB storage unit with at least 2 GB of capacity and be formatted in the FAT system.

Then download the firmware installation file from this link. Once the ZIP file is downloaded to your hard drive, extract the two ZIP files it contains and copy them to the empty USB stick without any folder inside.

Now, turn on the Vizio sound bar and select an audio input from which no sound is coming out. Next, insert the USB stick into the USB port on the soundbar.

The firmware update process will begin immediately, something that you can check by flashing the LED lights on the device. This can take up to 15 minutes, so during this period of time do not disconnect the device from the power supply or remove the USB stick.

Once the process is complete, the lights will stop flashing and the Vizio Sound Bar will reboot. To finish, remove the USB stick. To make sure this process was successful, try connecting the soundbar with the Vizio SmartCast app and then accessing the menu options.
