How do I recover my hacked Facebook account

Facebook offers you three methods to recover access to your stolen Facebook account.

You try to log in to your account, but Facebook tells you that your password is incorrect. And yet, up until recently, you did it without problems. We’re sorry to say to you that there are many chances that your account has been hacked. How does it happen to be hacked? Maybe you left your session open on a public computer, shared your laptop with unscrupulous people, or were a victim of the theft of one of your Facebook connecting devices.

But don’t worry, in this article, we guide you step by step through the process of recovering your Facebook account, from the most straightforward case to the most complicated. We only recommend doing the following steps from the PC or mobile phone with which you connected to Facebook, so you have a better chance of recovering your account.

Recover your hacked account via the email or phone

Let’s first look at this most straightforward case, in which only your password has altered.

Log in to Facebook as usual. The social network shows you a message indicating that the password is incorrect. Click on Forgot account?

The page that opens displays the email account you use to connect to Facebook (or a box where you must enter it) and your mobile number (if you set one up). Choose one of these means to receive the security code that allows you to reset your password and click Continue.

Check your email and copy the 6-digit security code you received. Paste the code onto the Facebook page and click Continue.

Enter a new password and confirm it. You get access to your Facebook account again.

What to do if the email account that you connect to Facebook has changed

This case is a little more complicated because besides having changed your password they have changed the email account associated with your Facebook. This time when you click on the Forgot your password link, your profile picture will appear, but the email address is different from yours. To recover your account:

Click on the Facebook account recovery link (use a computer or phone where you have already connected to Facebook).

Enter the email or phone number associated with the Facebook account you wish to recover and click Search. A message appears indicating that the account information was recently changed, click on This is my account.

Click Don’t have access anymore? > Enter a password to log in. Enter your password and click Sign in, and you’re done!

Recover your Facebook account by filling out a form

If you don’t have access to the computer you used to connect to Facebook or the above procedures just didn’t work, you still can recover your account by completing a form. Log in now to the Facebook Help Center and enter your email address.

Explain the problem. For example: “I can’t log in to my Facebook account because my email and password have been changed by someone else”.

You can upload a screenshot showing that your information has changed. Finally, click Send.
