WhatsApp incompatible smartphones from October 2023

WhatsApp is constantly adding new features to its mobile application in order to offer a better user experience.

This is the case of its new options that involve the management of high-resolution video files, the new AI functions that are yet to come and the synchronization of information on multiple devices connected online, to which are added security fixes common for a service in which personal information, which is very important for users, is exchanged.

However, all these new processes within the WhatsApp application require equipment with increasingly higher performance, a condition that does not fit models that are already many years old or come running with an operating system that no longer supports updates and therefore does not offer the necessary security.

Such is the case of many devices that are still running with Android and iOS versions prior to 5.0 and 9, and that can no longer be updated to higher versions due to the same demands of their developers.

Which phones will WhatsApp stop working on in October 2023?

That is why the attitude of Meta, the company that runs WhatsApp, is very clear. From time to time it publishes a list of devices that will no longer be compatible with the application because they cannot meet its performance and security requirements.
