Windows versions without support for Google Drive in 2023

What Google did with Windows 7 is repeated this time for Windows 8, 8.1 and 10 (32 bits). We are referring to the end of support from August 2023 for its Google Drive desktop application, whose function is to facilitate uploading files from the computer and synchronizing selected folders with Google Drive, Google’s virtual hard drive that in its free version has 15 GB capacity.

What to do if you want to continue using Google Drive from Windows 8, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 (32-bit)

This Google announcement also means that as of August, to have Google Drive working on its desktop version, it only remains to use the 64-bit version of Windows 10 or Windows 11. However, it does not mean that users of Google Drive on Windows 8 and Windows 10 (32 bits) are prevented from uploading their photos, videos or collaborative documents to the service, since they can do so from the web version of Google Drive or, failing that, upgrade to a compatible version of Windows.

In case you didn’t know, Google Drive is a virtual hard drive managed by Google equipped with functions for playing multimedia files, sharing files and tools for collaborative work. It represents a simple way to save the data that we use the most on the Internet to share or have it from anywhere in the world. It is also an interesting alternative to USB flash drives and portable hard drives, since it avoids carrying them around when doing work outside the office or going on a trip.
