How to share Android and Windows 11 clipboards

The clipboard function is very important for the transfer of information between programs or applications of a computer system. It is a fundamental element for data copying, cutting and pasting operations as it serves as a temporary store for this type of information.

Windows 11 and Android use it locally, but thanks to a smart keyboard application it is possible to synchronize both clipboards in the cloud and share their information between both operating systems.

The application in question is called Microsoft SwiftKey and works on iPhone and Android smartphones, but it is only on the latter operating system that the Cloud Clipboard function is deployed. With it, the information on the Android and Windows 11 clipboard is synchronized in the cloud, allowing a quick transfer of useful information for the benefit of the user.

How to sync Windows 11 and Android clipboards

The way to link and synchronize both clipboards is summarized in the following steps.

First, download the Microsoft SwiftKey keyboard app from the Google Play Store and open it to bring up the welcome screen.

On this screen, tap on Enable SwiftKey to have the keyboard installed on the system. Then, click on Select SwiftKey and in the Change keyboard window check Microsoft SwiftKey Keyboard. After this, click Finish.

Next, start a user session with the Microsoft account associated with your Windows 11 computer.

Once this is done, your settings screen will open. Go to Rich Typing > Clipboard and turn on the Sync clipboard history option. As a final verification step, sign in again with the same Microsoft account and make sure that Sync clipboard history is turned on.

Now go to your computer and go to Settings > System > Clipboard and turn on Clipboard history and Sync across devices.

From now on, items on the Windows clipboard will be synced to the Microsoft SwiftKey keyboard clipboard and vice versa.
