While it is true that the iPhone, TikTok live videos were already compatible with the iOS Picture in Picture mode, the same was not true for videos in the traditional format. However, this lack has been resolved with the implementation of the new Picture-in-Picture mode in the mobile application. A way to watch videos that already exists on the iPhone since iOS 14 and is used by applications such as Apple TV+, Disney+, Netflix, Hulu or Amazon Prime Video, among others.
This mode of operation of the TikTok application allows you to do other things on the iPhone while watching the pre-recorded videos, one after the other. And this function is integrated with the automatic playback system and two more additions to have better playback control: adjustable screen size and a pair of buttons for fast forward (or rewind) in 10-second increments.
How to use TikTok Picture-in-Picture mode on iPhone
Play a short TikTok video and long press on the playback window.
When the mobile app options menu appears, tap Picture in Picture.
A notice on the screen will let you know that TikTok’s Picture-in-Picture mode has been activated. Which means that you can exit the application and continue watching your favorite TikTok videos
In addition, you can place the playback window in the area of the screen that best suits you, including the possibility of hiding it and having the videos play in the background.
