How to increase the volume of your poorly recorded MP3 files

The MP3 format is great for sharing and listening to music, but sometimes song volume levels can be too low, not only for listening with headphones, but also for sending via Bluetooth. Increasing the volume of those MP3 files is possible and there are several effective ways to achieve it.

Using audio editing software

Another way is to use an audio editing program like Audacity. This open source software is quite powerful. To increase the volume in Audacity, do the following.

Import the MP3 file. Select all the audio and go to Effects > Amplify. Adjust the amplification in decibels to increase the volume. Export the amplified audio to a new MP3 file.

Audacity gives you full control to normalize and maximize volume levels. It is the ideal option if you work with many audio files.

The program download is available from the official Audacity website.

Using the MP3Gain program

One of the easiest ways to increase the volume of your MP3s is by using the MP3Gain program. This versatile software has the option to amplify the audio of your low volume songs to their optimal listening levels. To do it you just need to follow these steps:

Open MP3Gain and click AddFile(s) to select the low volume MP3 file(s).

Click Track Analysis. The software will analyze the volume level of the files and calculate the optimal values.

Once this is done, click Track Gain for the new volume level to take effect. It is very easy to use and allows you to increase the volume quickly without losing audio quality.

You can download MP3Gain by clicking this link.

Using an online tool

There are many web applications to amplify an MP3 file at low volume, but the one that offers the most intuitive method is MP3Louder. You can use it as the first option or if you have not had success with the previous two.

To increase the volume of a file with a low volume level with MP3Louder follow these steps.

Open your PC browser and go to MP3louder.com.

In the Increase MP3 Volume window, go to the Select MP3 audio file section and click Browse. Use the file explorer to select the MP3 file you want to process.

Under Select action, make sure it is set to Increase Volume. Leave the rest of the options as they are. Next, click on Upload Now.

The MP3 file will be uploaded to MP3Louder servers and processed in the cloud. Wait a few seconds for this process to finish and the Download file button to appear. Click on this button to download the optimized MP3 file.

As you can see, it is not at all difficult to increase the low volume of your MP3 collections. Try any of these alternatives and enjoy your favorite music at maximum volume.
