Apple AirTag: what it is and how to use it?

What is AirTag?

AirTag is an iPhone accessory developed by Apple to find frequently lost personal items, such as key chains, wallets, or backpacks, whose search results in delays that affect other user-planned activities.

And for this, it is enough to adhere or save it inside the article that you want to track.

Its location system is based on Bluetooth technology, which helps to transmit signals capable of being identified by the owner’s phone or by other users’ iPhone phones in the event of being lost in places far from the owner’s home.

The Find My app

The Find My app is involved in this entire process, the same one that allows you to locate lost iPhones and Apple devices on the map using the iCloud service.

Through the Find My app, it is possible to make an AirTag play sounds, which is useful for locating it if it is close to its owner. However, it is also possible to set up a Lost mode, in the event of a difficult location.

With this mode, you can be tracked to your precise location using Bluetooth technology and the Find My network made up of millions of iOS devices.

A lost AirTag can be identified by Apple devices connected to this Find network completely anonymously and report its location to the owner.

How to Activate Lost Mode on an AirTag

Open the Find app on your iPhone and tap the Items tab. Next, select the AirTag you want to set to Lost Mode.

Scroll down to the Mark as Lost option and select Activate. Take note of the instructions that appear on the screen and click Continue.

To finish, fill in the information with which you can be contacted in case the AirTag is located.
