Search Spotlight faster
Spotlight has been enhanced with better features, in part powered by machine learning technology. You’re no longer limited to searching for items in your Notes, SMS, and Email folders, or on the Internet. It is now possible to search for apps and the best results that Spotlight finds will include shortcuts that allow you to use the chosen application faster.
Another new Spotlight feature is the ability to perform basic arithmetic operations from its search box without having to open the iPhone calculator.
Take advantage of the iPhone screen while you recharge it
The new iPhone charging mode in iOS 17 (Standby mode) allows widgets configured by the user to appear on the locked screen by placing it in a horizontal position. Includes music, clock and photo widgets.
Customize your contact card
Contact Posters are a new feature in iOS 17 that allows users to customize the appearance of their contact cards with an image or text. This content will appear full screen during a phone call.
To create a contact poster, do the following. Open the Contacts app and tap on the contact you want to personalize. Then, tap on Contact Photo and Poster. Under Select your poster, choose between Camera, Photos, Emoji, or Monogram. Then, finish customizing the poster.
Create stickers from your photos
Stickers make conversations between friends more fun and often represent in a clearer way certain situations that words cannot express. And it becomes more fun if the stickers come from the photos shared by both of you.
In iOS 17, an exclusive section for stickers has been created, which is also synchronized in iCloud. They can even be created automatically from photos saved in the phone’s gallery. To do this, you just have to enter an iMessage conversation, select the More button and choose the Stickers option. Now you have to click on the More button again, select a photo (or Live Photo) and click on Add sticker.
Use Apple Maps offline
iOS 17 allows you to download sections of Apple maps to your iPhone to explore them without an Internet connection. This process is done as follows.
Open the Maps app and click on your name (next to the search box). Tap Offline Maps and select Download new map. Search for the city or place, determine the size of the map and click Download.
When you want to open it, go to the Offline Maps section of the Apple Maps app.
