Modern HP laptops are upgraded with the new version of USB i.e. USB Type C.
The USB type C connector
The USB Type-C connector provides additional features such as higher data transmission speed and bidirectional power supply through the same connector.
This latest feature allows them to charge external battery-powered devices such as mobile phones, something that was already common with the previous version of the USB connector; or use compatible devices that require additional power to function, such as graphics cards or external hard drives.
However, it also allows them to receive a charge from the USB type C connector in the absence of their generic battery charger, either due to loss or damage to the cable, as long as it provides the necessary power.
There are actually several ways to do it.
Charge a laptop from the cigarette case of the car
One of them is to take advantage of the electrical energy that our car supplies through the USB connection of the entertainment console or from the cigarette case with the appropriate USB connector.
Therefore, it is enough to connect the USB cable with USB type C termination to the input of the laptop and the other end of the cable with standard USB termination to the connector of the car, preferably on. The rest is to be a little careful handling the laptop and wait for its battery to get the necessary charge.
Charge a laptop from a USB plug
Another much simpler way is to use a similar cable to connect it to power extenders with USB ports that we have at home or use USB plugs connected to the wall. In the absence of these, it is worth mentioning that they are easily purchased at any electronic accessories store.
Charge a laptop with the phone charger
A third way and perhaps the one that all cell phone users have at hand is to use their charger.
For this, a type C cell phone charger is enough, like the ones used by the Samsung Galaxy phones that make up the new S series, the Huawei Mate 20 or Huawei P40 phones, the iPhone 13 Pro Max, among many others.
However, it is possible that the charging time is not the same as that offered by the original charger of the laptop, but it is well worth getting us out of trouble.
HP laptops that support charging through the USB Type-C port
The line of HP laptops that have at least one USB Type-C port to support this type of charging are: HP EliteBook, HP ProBook, HP Spectre, HP ENVY 13, and HP ZBook.
