In the absence of a subscription music service or online radios that catch your attention, you can create your own music server with the collection of songs you have on your computer’s hard drive. mStream allows you to do it in a few steps and is very easy to use.
What is mStream?
mStream is a program for Windows, Mac and Linux computers that allows you to share your music library with devices on your home network, including phones and tablets. It’s just a matter of running the program, adding the folders containing the music files and selecting the users who will have access to the server, all from a convenient web interface.
Formats supported by mStream
mStream supports a diverse range of music formats including MP3 and FLAC. Song playback also makes use of a web interface, but to improve the user experience on iOS and Android mobile devices, it has very easy-to-use apps.
How does mStream work
Its operation is very simple. Once the program is installed, you just have to enter from the web browser (or client application) to the address HTTP://address-IP-ofequipment:3000 and start a session with the user credentials created by the server administrator.
Its main options include the possibility of starting the program when the system boots, configuring external connections to the local network, among other advanced functions.
