The James Webb Telescope is a great wonder of space engineering. It is the result of the joint collaboration of twenty countries and its operation is in charge of NASA, the Canadian Space Agency and the European Space Agency.
What is the mission of the James Webb Telescope?
It was designed to capture and process the light emitted by the first interstellar formations and that due to the expansion process has been stretched towards the infrared region of the spectrum, which does not allow it to be seen with traditional instruments.
Its mission also encompasses the study of less distant regions of the universe that could harbor some form of life, particularly those in which celestial bodies orbiting around stars other than the sun, known as exoplanets, have been detected.
Since its launch into space on December 25, 2021, it has been providing information that allows conclusions to be drawn about the origin of the universe, and being 100 times more powerful than the old Hubble Space Telescope, the images it will reveal until the end of its mission are of incalculable scientific value.
