Both are equipped with the Android TV system certified by Google, so they have the Play Store and are also natively compatible with the main video streaming services such as Netflix, YouTube, Disney Plus, HBO Max, among many others. plus.
But like other Android TV-based devices, they don’t come with a pre-installed web browser, and those available on the Play Store don’t include Google Chrome, the default web browser on the mobile version of Android. However, there is a trick to be able to use this browser on Onn TV Box and Onn TV Stick. The steps are the following.
Go to your PC and download the Android (mobile) version of Google Chrome from the APKMirror website https://www.apkmirror.com/. Use its search box (magnifying glass icon) to find a stable and up-to-date version of Chrome.
Next, upload this file in APK format to your Google account. Install the Solid Explorer and Sideload Launcher applications on your Onn TV Box or Onn TV Stick.
Once this is done, use Solid Explorer to enter your Google Drive account and download the Google Chrome APK file to the TV Box or TV Stick. When prompted to install this browser, do so. You may need to enable the option to install apps from unknown sources.
Now, open Sideload Launcher and launch Google Chrome.
Since the interface of the Google Chrome browser is not optimized for the TV screen, you will have to use a compatible mouse or console controller to use it fully. For this you can use the Bluetooth connection, although in the case of the set top box you can also take advantage of its OTG compatibility to use conventional mice.
