How to use a Roomba vacuum robot with voice using Google Home

Roomba vacuum robot and Google Nest Hub

Although Roomba 980 cleaning robot, of the iRobot brand, was conceived to receive orders only through its touch panel or mobile application, it is possible to use the voice to ask it to perform cleaning missions.

Of course, for this, you will need to have a Google Nest Hub (or Google Home / Dot) and, also, link your iRobot account to your Google account from the Google Home app.

How to link your Roomba vacuum robot to Google Home

Open the Google Home app on your smartphone (Android or iPhone) and touch the Add button (+). In Add to Home, touch Set up devices.

In Works with Google, touch Have something already set up? In the search bar, type irobot, and select iRobot Smart Home from the list of results.

Log in to your iRobot account – enter your email, password, and click Log in. Then press OK to finish the process of linking accounts. In Choose device, choose your Roomba Vacuum and touch the X sign to close.

Your Roomba vacuum will appear in the section Linked to you from In your home, and it will be possible to give orders by voice.

You can find all voice commands available on the Roomba site. Here are some voice commands for your Roomba:

To start the cleanup: “Ok Google, start Roomba” or “Start vacuuming.”

To stop cleaning: “Ok Google, pause Roomba” or “Pause vacuuming.”

To send Roomba to your base: “Ok Google, send Roomba home.”
