Lenovo laptop not detecting micro SD card

Reading an SD or micro SD card on the computer is quite a common activity, since through these storage devices, the user usually exchanges information with their multimedia players, cameras or mobile phones. That is why a failure to read or write data, or the possibility that a laptop does not recognize an SD card or micro SD adapter cases can be very annoying.

This problem often occurs on Lenovo laptops, many times due to having the physical lock switch of the SD card or adapter activated, but also many times due to software errors, specifically, a deactivation or outdating of card reader drivers. Its solution is very simple. You follow these steps.

Check the SD card lock switch

First, check that the SD card or adapter lock switch is not on. If yes, that is, if it is not locked and you still cannot read SD cards, go to the next step.

Update the card reader driver

Press Windows key + X and select Device Manager.

Expand the Memory technology devices section. Right-click on the item that includes the phrase CardReader and select Update Driver.

In the window that opens, click Search for drivers automatically. Wait a few moments for the operation to complete.

Once this process is finished, you can also try updating the drivers from Windows Update. To do this, from the same window click on Search for updated drivers in Windows Update. When the Windows Update interface opens, click Check for updates. Wait for the process to finish and restart your PC.
