How to disable the ChatGPT history

The conversations that are held with the ChatGPT are saved by default in a history to improve the training of this language model driven by Artificial Intelligence algorithms. They even appear together in a side section of its web interface, potentially causing some inconvenience to users concerned about their online privacy.

OpenAI, the company that owns ChatGPT, has echoed this concern, which also involves some regulatory government entities related to the protection of personal data, so it has decided to update the web platform, making available a new feature that allows deactivate the history of conversations, which joins the option to delete one by one or as a whole the interactions or messages sent to Artificial Intelligence.

How to turn off the ChatGPT history on your PC

Open the ChatGPT web interface from your desktop browser.

Then, click on the options menu located on the right side of your user profile and select Settings.

In the Data Controls section, click Show. Locate the Chat History & Training option and turn its switch to the off position.

Once ChatGPT is configured in this way, it will no longer display the chat history. However, it will continue to be stored for 30 days before deleting it. To reverse this situation, you just have to click on the Enable Chat History option.

Another function related to privacy is the one that allows you to delete the entire history in case this function has not been deactivated. For this, click on the options menu and use the one that says Clear Conversations.
