Why does my television turn off by itself?

Stand by mode on a TV

The stand-by mode is a mode of operation of a television in which all its functions are suspended in order to save energy, that is, it turns off by itself.

Why does a TV switches to stand-by mode?

This occurs when after a few hours of use no activity is carried out by the user. This automatic shutdown time is determined by the manufacturer, usually between 2 to 4 hours.

What characterizes this mode is the presence of a screen turned off but with the red pilot light in the on state, since the television is not completely disconnected from the electrical current, something that also occurs when the television is turned off with the remote control or with the physical on / off button.

Disable the stand by mode

However, if you are a user who makes intensive use of your television, either because you watch continuous hours of series or movies without pressing any key on the remote control, you watch content from an external video source or you use your television as a monitor computer, you may find it much more convenient to turn off automatic standby.
