The most recent software update for the JBL Bar 3.1 soundbar can solve incompatibility problems with the audio and video signals emitted by some television sets and consoles capable of connecting to their HDMI inputs, for example, certain models of Motorola cable boxes and PS4 Pro consoles. How to find out the firmware version of the JBL Bar 3.1
This step is essential to know if the equipment needs updating, bearing in mind that the latest firmware version of the JBL Bar 3.1 soundbar is number 49. Proceed as follows:
To get started, turn on the soundbar.
Use the soundbar remote control and hold down the DIMM DISPLAY key for three to four seconds. Release this button and immediately press the SOUND MODE button briefly followed by another short press of the NIGHT MODE button.
A list of software versions referring to its different components will appear on the soundbar screen. Make a note of the version number of the MCU component. If it is less than 49, the soundbar can be updated.
How to update the JBL Bar 3.1 soundbar
First of all, download the update file from this link. Unzip the folder JBL_BAR_3.1_USB_v49.zip
Transfer it to the root directory of a USB memory with at least 6 GB of free space (it is preferable if the memory does not contain other files inside). Next, carefully follow the instructions below:
Turn off the JBL Bar 3.1 soundbar. Then, connect your auxiliary audio cable from the soundbar to your subwoofer speaker. On the soundbar insert the cable into the auxiliary output and on the subwoofer insert it into the SW UPGRADE input. Insert the USB stick into the soundbar’s USB port.
Turn on the soundbar. Press the Volume Down and Power buttons located on its top panel simultaneously for approximately five or six seconds.
The update process will begin immediately, displaying the UPDATE MODE message at the beginning followed by the WAIT message.
Wait for the process to take place (five to six minutes). And keep an eye out for the DONE message. At this point the soundbar will reboot and work as usual. Finally, remove the auxiliary cable from the ports to which it was connected.
