How to uninstall OneDrive in Windows 10 and 8

The fact that Microsoft has decided to integrate OneDrive into Windows 10 seems to be very well motivated. In fact, it meets the current needs of digital consumers to share files and access them from any other device with an Internet connection.

Now, as it is not the only service of its kind, you can do without it and choose to remove it from your system, especially if you are already a user of Google Drive, Dropbox or some other similar platform. Thus, you will prevent your application from loading together with the system startup with the consequent time delay.

These are the steps you must follow.

How to remove OneDrive in Windows 10

Right-click on Start and select Apps and Features. In this window, select Microsoft OneDrive and click Uninstall. Then confirm the requested operation.

How to uninstall OneDrive in Windows 8.1

Unfortunately, in Windows 8.1 it is not possible to remove the OneDrive application as it is fully integrated into the system. However, it can be hidden. To achieve this, do the following.

First, go to the Start menu and right-click on the OneDrive icon. Next, select Unpin from Start. Then go back to the Start menu and click the Settings icon. Then select Change PC settings. In this window, select OneDrive.

On the File Storage tab, disable the Save documents to OneDrive option by default. On the Camera Album tab, select Don’t upload photos and disable Automatically upload videos to OneDrive.

On the Sync Settings tab, go to OneDrive sync settings and turn off the Sync settings on this PC option. On the Metered Connections tab, disable all options.

Finally, if you want to hide OneDrive from File Explorer do the following. Open File Explorer and in the list of folders in the left pane, right-click OneDrive, then click Properties. On the General > Attributes tab, check the Hidden box.
